British day

Finally an English day at My dream's cool!

On March, 11, 2010 we had a talk on English culture, education and social life. Paul, a.k.a Pawel, came incognito to the class and successfully played a British citizen, as a matter of fact he owns a British passport so that part he did not pretend. He gave us a detailed lecture in English on what a life of a Brit looks like, beginning from a nursery and ending on an adult life. And, to our surprise, it does not look well, speaking from our, Polish perspective. The British prefer hiring people to take care of - or "to educate"- their children rather to doing it by themselves as hours spent on education they would find "unproductive". Unproductive because they do not earn money doing so. At least it was Pawel's conclusion.

OMG, can you imagine Polish parents saying: "I will not spend time with our children, darling, as I would earn much more working than being with them for three hours after work at home. That's why I will be back from work at 22 every day, ok?"

Also, we learned what a "gap year" is, where Windsor is and how come Australia or Canada has the same Queen as Great Britain.

And yet, we didn't solve the problem why the hell cars are cheaper in Great Britain whereas the Brits earn much more than we do.

All in all, a very educational lesson! Great Britain in this sense is really great ;)

Thanx Pawel!
